When you’re running your own business, there are numerous types of taxes and quite a few important tax due dates you need to keep track of. Missing any of these tax due dates could result in fines or penalties, so it’s important to remember each of these.
Tax Due Dates to Know
October 15, 2015
Tax due date to file individual 2014 tax return (IRS Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040A) if you obtained an automatic six-month extension of time to file. You must pay any tax, interest or penalties due.
January 15, 2016
Last estimated tax payment for 2015 by individual taxpayers due.
February 1, 2016
All Forms 1099-MISC must be provided to recipients (payees)
March 1, 2016
Tax due date for all Forms 1099-MISC and 1096 filed on paper with the IRS.
March 15, 2016
All corporations must file federal income tax returns and pay any tax due—C corporations file Form 1120, S corporations file Form 1120S.
Due date to file an election for a corporation to be treated as an S corporation for calendar year 2016—file Form 2553.
March 31, 2016
Due date for all Forms 1099-MISC filed electronically with the IRS.
